Family Ties

Connecting local Jewish college students and families on the Florida Suncoast

…………………………

We are currently accepting applications for the 2011-2012 academic year.

About Family Ties…

This program connects Jewish college students with members of the Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sarasota Jewish communities, to create a special family experience for all participants.

Calling All College Students!
Whether you are a freshman or an upperclassman, observant or secular, male or female – each student will have the opportunity to form a lasting connection with a local Jewish family while away from home.

Calling All Local Jewish Families!
The program is great for all types of families! Whether you have young children or teens and are looking for a role model, or are empty-nesters looking to give back, each family will find added fulfillment in different ways.

Program Details…

Connecting:
Connect with your family or student about once a month. Activities can include Jewish gatherings such as Shabbat and holiday meals, or sporting events and shopping trips, or even just relaxing together on a Sunday afternoon.

Matching Process:
Each student and family will be matched on an individualized basis to ensure that both the student and family are comfortable with the match, and have common interests. We will make every effort to make as many appropriate matches as possible. Applications will be chosen on a first come, first served basis.

How to Participate…

  • Fill out an online application
  • Matches will be made on a rolling basis, as both student and family applications are submitted
  • Once a match has been made, both the students and family will be notified of the match and how to get in touch with each other
